Syphilis is a disease that is categorised as Sexually Transmitted Disease or STD. This disease is regarded as infectional disease. Syphilis mostly spreading through sexual activity. However, it can also get spreaded via birth process, i.e. from mother to her baby. Syphilis can be effectively treated with antibiotics. The symptoms of syphilis depend on the stage of the disease. There are 4 stages in this disease, which are primary, secondary, latent, and tertiary. CAUSES


Syphilis is caused by bacterial infection. The type of bacteria that is responsible for this infection is called as bacterium Treponema pallidum subspecies pallidum. This type of bacterium also can cause other disease like yaws.
