The symptom of melena is that is the existence of blood in the stool. The indication that there is blood in stool is that the stool color is black and also tarry. Black and tarry stool is caused by the bleeding. The bleeding is happen in upper part of gut. The most common cause of melena are peptic ulcers, cirrohis, gastritis, esophagitis, and also malignancy.
