Colorectal cancer or also known as colon cancer is a cancer that happen inside the colon or rectum. Colon is part of the large intestine which is regarded as the part of our body digestive system. Foods that we eat moves to the colon through the stomach and small intestine. The colon is the part of the digestive system that responsible for absorbing the nutrients from the food. The waste from the digestion process then leave the colon into the rectum before leave our body. Most of the cancer that start inside the colon are adenocarcinomas cancer. Adenocarcinomas is a cancer that happen at the cells that responsible for making mucus and other fluids. At first, cancer begin as a growth called as polyp, which some of it become cancer. You can say that you might have colon cancer by notice the following symptom. Blood in the stools is one of many symptom that regarded as the sign of colon cancer. However, having this symptom doesn’t mean you have colon cancer. Blood in the stools can caused by other things such as haemorrhoids. The second symptom is a change in your bowel habit. The third symptom is abdominal pain. Again, please note that having one or all the symptoms above can not be concluded as a sign of colon cancer. Just like many other cancer, it is not clear why the colon cancer develop on one person while other people doesn’t have cancer. But it is strongly believe that the development of cancer is caused by DNA change in our cells. Change in DNA of the cells make the cells grow uncontroled. This uncontroled growth make the cells divide continously. Ones the cancer emerge, it will invade surrounding body tissues. The change in the DNA can caused by many things such as smoking habit and unhealthy food.
