The symptoms of osteoarthritis depend on the joints that get affected with this disease. However, there are common symptoms which are pain, stiffness, limited range of movement, joint swelling, and pain that get worse after activity. People with this disorder usually complain about the pain. Therefore the treatment will focus on how to reduce the pain. The treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee using acupuncture will targeting the acupoints of ST-35,19–24,28 ST-36,20,21,23,25,26 SP-9, and GB-34.20,22,23,25,26,28. The stimulation to the each acupoints is done by electro stimulator. The treatment course will take about 4 weeks. Each week, patient will receive 2 or 3 treatment.
