Acupuncture and Otitis Media (Middle Ear Infection)

Otitis Media is not a single disease, rather than it is a group of diseases of the middle ear. This group of diseases is mainly an inflammatory disease. There are two types of Otitis Media which are Acute Otitis Media (AOM) and Otitis Media with Effusion (OME). AOM is an infection in the middle ear, while OME is connected with the existence of fluid in the middle ear longer than three months. The AOM can become complicated and resulting with discharge from the ear. This condition is called as Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM).
